When planted, the flagseed creates a checkpoint that you return to when you fall in a hole. The checkpoint also acts as a small wall.

The FlagSeed demonstrates that TumbleSeed is destined to fulfill The Prophecy because of his connection to The Mountain. FlagSeed allows TS to leave behind his pride and become one with The Mountain, giving him the determination necessary to reach the top.
